The trade deadline for the MLB is just a couple of days away now, and though the Houston Astros still sit atop the AL West standings, they still have some shopping to do to finish out the second half of their season, especially with all the injuries they have been plagued with, especially to star sluggers such as Yordan Alvarez and now recently, Isaac Parades

There is still plenty of time for deals to be made, and general manager Dana Brown should be very active in buying at the deadline, despite all the trade rumors surrounding his own players.

When is the MLB trade deadline?

The official deadline for trades in the 2025 Major League Baseball is 6:00 PM EST on Thursday, July 31st. All trades must be submitted to the league office by that time, and no trades can occur after said time.

What does Houston need to do?

The current biggest need for the Astros is a strong third starting pitcher to follow behind Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez in the starting rotation. Luckily for the team, there are many options available in both the American and National Leagues, and they really only need one, and if Jose Altuve is going to continue in left field, then another second baseman wouldn't hurt the team either.

Both of these needs, specifically the starting pitcher, are crucial to the team if they want to bring a third World Series championship to H-Town.
