The Houston Astros are searching for a new manager this offseason.

The AL West club parted ways with Joe Espada shortly after the loss in the Wild Card Series to the Chicago White Sox.

Houston managed to win the division despite an average 81-81 record. If we're being honest, the Astros weren't a very good team.

While the potential lockout could complicate the hunt for a new manager, the Astros have already begun the interview process.

"Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus is interviewing for the Astros’ managerial job. @brianmctaggart reported Ausmus was in Houston Thursday, the day before Randy Flores was announced as the new GM. Ausmus previously managed the Tigers and Angels," the New York Post's Jon Heyman wrote Monday morning on X.

The Yankees hired Ausmus in November 2023, spending the past three seasons as Aaron Boone's right-hand man.

The 57-year-old has five years of managerial experience, leading the Detroit Tigers from 2014-17, and the Los Angeles Angels in 2019.

Overall, Ausmus has a 314-332 managerial record and one postseason appearance. Detroit won 90 games in 2014 but was swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS.

The former catcher is familiar with the Astros. He spent 10 of his 18 Major League seasons with the organization, hitting 41 home runs with 5.0 bWAR in 1,259 games.

Ausmus may not be the only candidate the Astros interview, but it's clear they have some level of interest in New York's bench coach.
