Astros' Dana Brown, Joe Espada receive job status update after missing postseason

It was an underwhelming final few months for the Houston Astros after leading the AL West for the majority of the regular season, only to see the Seattle Mariners steal the division title and eliminate the Astros from playoff contention in the final weeks.

It was a mutual fallout for everyone throughout the organization. From injuries to sloppy play, the Astros went 31-35 in games after the All-Star break.

With all of this drama leading to Houston missing the postseason for the first time since 2016, it appeared that general manager Dana Brown and manager Joe Espada were in the hot seat following the result.

Insider: Dana Brown, Joe Espada will continue to serve roles with team for 2026 season

Although Astros fans and insiders were frustrated with the final result of the 2025 season, it appears the team's front office doesn't plan to make major changes.

According to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart, "Astros GM Dana Brown and manager Joe Espada are both under contract for next year and will return in 2026... Any speculation about their futures can be put to rest."

This means that Brown and Espada will continue to play out their contracts that expire at the end of 2026.

Dana Brown has served as the Astros' general manager since 2023 after taking over the duties from James Click. Despite missing the postseason in 2025, Brown helped lead the Astros to two AL West titles in his first two years in the position.

Espada was hired by the Astros following the retirement of the great Dusty Baker at the end of the 2023 season. He was able to help lead Houston to a division title in his first year as manager. His overall record as manager for the Astros is 173-148.
