Arsenal targeting £60m summer windfall from player sales

Arsenal are aiming to generate at least £60 million ($78m) through player sales this summer as they look to balance the books following a busy start to the transfer window, Sporting News understands.

The Gunners have already spent more than £70 million ($91m) on new signings, bringing in Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Danish international Christian Norgaard so far.

Talks are also well advanced over a move for Sweden forward Viktor Gyokeres, with Sporting CP holding out for a fee close to €63.5 million (£54m/$69m) plus an additional €10 million (£8.5m/$10.9m) in add-ons.

With significant investment going into strengthening the squad, Arsenal will soon shift their focus to player exits. The club are hoping to offload several fringe players and have placed valuations on a number of them.

Fabio Vieira is one of those expected to leave, with the Gunners seeking around £20 million ($26m) for the Portuguese midfielder, who has attracted serious interest from Serie A side Parma.

The 25-year-old is keen on a reunion with former Gunners assistant Carlos Cuesta, who recently took charge at the Italian club.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are open to offers for Oleksandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga, with both players expected to move on if suitable bids arrive.

Winger Reiss Nelson is also edging closer to the exit door. The 25-year-old is in talks with Fulham over a potential return to Craven Cottage, following a loan spell last season that was hampered by injury.

Nelson made 13 appearances and scored twice before hamstring and leg issues disrupted his campaign.

Despite still being under contract at Arsenal, Fulham remain interested in bringing him back, with discussions ongoing over another loan deal.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are expected to continue reshaping the squad in the coming weeks, as Arsenal prepare for a busy campaign across domestic and European competitions.

The club hope to finalise both incoming and outgoing deals before the start of the Premier League season.
