Arsenal eye struggling Premier League striker on one key condition

Arsenal are one of those clubs that are desperately trying to sign a new striker in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Though the Gunners have been linked with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, they are yet to agree a deal for either player with their respective clubs.

And now, by the looks of it, Mikel Arteta’s team seems to have found another alternative in the form of struggling Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegalese international has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing the striker on one condition.

Despite being given ample opportunities to prove himself at Stamford Bridge, Jackson has failed to do so, and he has also struggled with his disciplinary record in the recent past.

The striker was sent off in the Premier League game against Newcastle United and, more recently, in the Club World Cup encounter against Flamengo.

Additionally, the arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town has seemingly pushed Jackson down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and now, a move away seems most likely for the striker.

According to Duncan Castles, on The Transfers Podcast, Arsenal are “holding out for a deal which represents the best value.”

Why Jackson may not be the solution to Arsenal’s problems

If Arsenal do make a move for Chelsea, it would be similar to the time they swooped in for Kai Havertz from Chelsea a few years back.

Havertz was also not fully convincing in his time at Stamford Bridge, but his move to The Emirates reignited his Premier League career.

The German has been one of the key reasons behind Arsenal’s charge for trophies, but also a reason why the club haven’t been able to clinch titles.

Given how agonisingly close Arsenal have come to winning the title in recent seasons, they need a striker who is guaranteed to score more than 20 goals in a season, and Jackson does not seem to be that player.
