The famous last name. Immense pressure to perform. Intense scrutiny when the sky-high expectations aren’t immediately met.
Chris Simms knows everything Arch Manning went through.
“It adds more pressure to the situation, because the expectations are through the roof. He didn’t play a game and everybody’s like, ‘He’s the first pick of the draft next year,’” Simms, the former Texas quarterback, son of Giants Super Bowl champion Phil Simms and NBC football analyst, told The Post in a phone interview. “It’s like, ‘Let’s see him throw a pass first, hold on.’ That was a little ridiculous.”
Manning, though, couldn’t have handled last year any better. He didn’t make excuses. He didn’t fold. He didn’t let the criticism get to him. In fact, he performed in the second half of the season, a sign that this coming season could play out as some envisioned his year going in 2025.
