We absolutely need to stop the notion that a Milwaukee Brewers-Tampa Bay Rays World Series would be bad for baseball.

The only argument right now that this could be an issue for Major League Baseball is the expected end-of-season lockout, but both teams absolutely deserve to be there and are a joy to watch.

Milwaukee does everything right on both sides of the baseball, and Tampa Bay has been an absolute force to be reckoned with over much of the past decade.

Both teams have been on the doorstep of a World Series title for quite some time now, and while they're still far from doing so and face difficult paths to get there, they've earned it.

However, former Chicago Cubs legend and World Series champion Anthony Rizzo had a lot to say about why it could become a problem for baseball if both teams make it. He believes owners will have even less reason to spend.

“It'd be f**king terrible. It would be amazing, and it would be terrible,” Rizzo said. H/T Clutch Points.

“It would be amazing because, yes, I love bunting a guy over, get a guy over, the fundamentals, right? But if the Rays and the Brewers are in the World Series, every single owner is going to say, why can't we beat them? And they're not going to want to spend any more money, because every owner already is saying, ‘Well, why can't we be just be like the Rays? They make the playoffs every year. They go deep every year. Why can't we be like the Brewers? They have a $100 million payroll. We have a $300 million payroll? We have a $250 million payroll?'

“So that's why I would hate it, but the product of baseball and seeing two teams that have never won a World Series win their first championship would be awesome.”

I agree with Rizzo in a simple sense, as teams will say this, but there are many reasons the Brewers and Rays have been as good as they have been in the past without spending as much money as teams like the New York Yankees.

Having the scouting departments that both do, being able to trust their coaching staff, and other factors have all led the Brewers and Rays to being in this position.

That isn't something you can really say about other teams in baseball.
