The Colts came into the preseason with a quarterback training camp battle on their hands. Anthony Richardson was the incumbent, but after a rocky start to his career, Indianapolis signed former first-round pick Daniel Jones to a one-year deal in the offseason.
Richardson got the starting nod for Indy's first preseason game with the plan that Jones would take over for him after the first quarter and a half. Head coach Shane Steichen also predetermined that this would flip for the second preseason game, with Jones starting and Richardson coming on in relief.
What Steichen didn't plan for was David Ojabo. The Ravens defender came untouched on a play in the first quarter and obliterated Richardson in the backfield. He left the field with what was thought to be an arm or shoulder injury, but trainers started looking at his hand on the sideline.

The QB was trying to grip the football and was struggling, so Jones stayed in the game on the next series and Richardson was shut down for the day.
