Anthony Edwards sends clear message about impressive Timberwolves teammate

The Minnesota Timberwolves have really come on as of late.

The team is the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. They are just a half-game behind the Golden State Warriors and hold tiebreakers over the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies.

The fluctuation between those teams for those spots as the regular season nears its end will surely be something to watch.

But for now, the Timberwolves will avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament as long as they can keep up their winning ways with six games remaining.

Anthony Edwards praises teammate

On Tuesday, the Timberwolves scored a big win over the Denver Nuggets, and it was theatrical.

They managed to withstand a 61-point triple-double from Nikola Jokic in double overtime.

Minnesota came down and got the ball to Nickeil Alexander-Walker for a 3-point attempt that was off in the closing seconds, but he was fouled with 0.1 seconds on the clock.

Alexander-Walker drained two of the three free throws to give him 26 points and his team to win.

Anthony Edwards was quite impressed with his teammate for not just drilling the free throws, but also his game overall.

"MVP of the game... At some point, I was like, let's just give the ball to Nickeil and we all spot up," Edwards said. "He wants the ball. He wants the catch and shoot shot.. Most dudes don't want it."

The Timberwolves will need Alexander-Walker in the upcoming weeks, whether it be in the NBA Play-In Tournament or the NBA Playoffs.

There's been no shortage of perimeter talent in the league, especially in the Western Conference.

If the Timberwolves are going to make a deep run this year, they will need efforts like this from Alexander-Walker. Perhaps not every night and to the tune of 26 points, but it's performances like that that not only help win games, but playoff series.
