Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder may not have produced the results that Timberwolves fans had hoped for.
Last night, the Thunder took a commanding 2-0 lead, winning 118-103 over the Timberwolves. However, there was a silver lining for Minnesota.
Anthony Edwards has surpassed Kevin Garnett as the Timberwolves' all-time leading playoff scorer. Coming into the Western Conference Finals, Edwards only needed 35 points to surpass Garnett, who had 1049 playoff points.
He closed the gap quickly, scoring 18 points during Game 1 and eventually eclipsing the milestone during Game 2, where he finished the contest with 32 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Edwards has continued to be dynamic even in the postseason. So far, the Timberwolves have eliminated LeBron James and Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
As for Anthony Edwards, he averaged 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists during the regular season and has continued to build on those numbers during the playoffs, averaging 25.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game in 11 appearances.
At 23 years old, Edwards continues to rise as one of the brightest stars in the NBA. Throughout his time in the Twin Cities, he has led the Timberwolves to the Conference Finals twice.
He faces a formidable challenge in a talented Thunder team led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the current reigning MVP.
The Thunder have handled the Timberwolves in their first two matchups, with the series shifting back to Minneapolis, Edwards would look to rebound to spark a comeback on their home floor.
