Anonymous NFL player blasts Bills new Highmark Stadium with brutal six-word review

The Buffalo Bills finally debuted their new stadium in Week 1 of the NFL preseason with their matchup against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, August 16.

They won 29-14, going 1-0 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. But after the game, the reception for the stadium wasn't so warm.

Tim Graham of The Athletic shared that one anonymous NFL player had a brutal six-word review of Highmark Stadium.

"The field is so (expletive) right now," one anonymous player said. The same player then also said the following: "But it's early."

It is early, given that this was the very first game played in the stadium. But so far, while things went for the Bills on the scoreboard, the literal field wasn't in good shape.

Kyle Allen was tackled in the first quarter, and his force hitting the ground created a divot in the grass that, as Graham writes, "roots, dirt and all."

Josh Allen, DJ Moore, Dion Dawkins, and Spencer Brown all helped to fix the hole, which was a sign that Highmark Stadium's grass might not be fully ready just yet.

This anonymous NFL player's use of an expletive to describe the field might be accurate right now, but it was the very first game, and as time moves on, things should stabilize.

For NFL players, playing on grass is much preferred to turf, so the early struggles with the grass field are something that players might be willing to accept if it means not playing on turf.

Graham shared that another Bills player, while staying anonymous because they "didn't want to be identified," said that the grass was "soft, but not in a good way."

Highmark Stadium has had an up-and-down beginning to its tenure, and this first review of the grass at the stadium didn't exactly go well.

But it's a work in progress, and as the season rolls along, some of these harsh opinions could change. For now, though, Highmark Stadium received some anonymous complaints after its debut that should be addressed before the regular season kicks off.
