Anne Hathaway Addresses Plastic Surgery Rumors and Hints at Future Facelift
Anne Hathaway isn’t against the idea of plastic surgery.
Though The Idea of You star revealed she hasn’t undergone any invasive cosmetic procedures, she’s not against going under the knife in the future.
“These are huge medical decisions that people are presuming,” Anne told Elle in an interview published May 21 of online speculation she’s had a facelift. “I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision.”
Rather, The Princess Diaries alum uses “just two braids” pulled taut under her hair to create the optical illusion of a sculpted visage.
But just because Anne—who shares kids Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6, with husband Adam Shulman—hasn’t had the procedure done yet, it doesn’t mean she won’t in the future.
“And by the way,” she added, “the other thing about all this is, I might still get a facelift someday.”
As for why The Devil Wears Prada 2 star felt it necessary to address the plastic surgery rumors? As she put it, “I felt like the conversation was becoming distracting.”
That said, if the 43-year-old had it her way, she’d stay tight-lipped.
“My preference would be to never comment on anything and to just live in the mystery and not draw attention to myself,” she explained, “but the speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there.”

“And I’ll probably always wonder, ‘Should I have posted that or not?’” she added. “‘Should I have just kept going and done the thing that makes me happy and makes me feel more confident on the red carpet?’”
And while she’d like nothing more than to let the rumor mill run, sometimes silencing the chatter is necessary.
“We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact,” she said, “and sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not.”
