Age ain’t nothing but a number.
Anna Camp, 42, defended her relationship with girlfriend Jade Whipkey, 24, following backlash to their 18-year age difference.
“I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them,” the “You” actress wrote in the comments of an Instagram post celebrating their red carpet debut last week.
“We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything,” Camp continued.
“Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well 🙂 Especially this Pride month.”
The “Pitch Perfect” star’s response came after several online users expressed their disapproval over her romance with Whipkey.
“just cuz they are gay doesnt excuse the weird ahh age gap [sic],” one critic commented on the same Instagram post.
“I’m in my mid 30s and I can’t imagine having the necessary common ground to start a relationship with a 20 year old. What could they possibly have in common?” another wrote.
A third person claimed, “Regardless of celebrity or gender: if a 42 year old is with a 24 year old, it’s about power or control, even on a subconscious level.”

Camp and Whipkey made their red carpet debut last Wednesday at the Los Angeles premiere of “Bride Hard” at the DGA Theater Complex.
They smiled happily and wrapped their arms around each other while posing for photos at the event.
The “True Blood” alum and the on-set stylist confirmed their romance with a photo shared on Instagram Stories in May.
“Her smile is a poem, her eyes are roses, her laugh is music for dancing,” Whipkey captioned the snap of Camp at an outdoor restaurant.
Days later, the duo was seen passionately kissing while out in LA.
Camp was previously linked to drummer Michael Johnson following her divorce from Skylar Astin.
She and her “Pitch Perfect” co-star were married for three years from 2016 to 2019.
