Anger and death threats fly as complaints shut down rogue Knicks watch party in ‘John Gotti’ neighborhood

This was an offer some can refuse.

A popular Howard Beach Italian restaurant’s attempt to host an ‘illegal’ Knicks watch party was crushed like a tomato when angry neighbors ratted them out for not having a permit — and ignited a b-ball battle in mob boss’ John Gotti’s former stomping ground that is sending people to the mattresses.

“Jealousy — unfortunately, it’s just part of being successful. If you don’t got haters, you’re not doing it right,” said Angelo Pellegrino, who owns Brother’s Ravioli on Cross Bay Boulevard with his cousin, Nick Pellegrino.

The planned party outside the shop was shut down just hours before the Knicks took the court Wednesday for Game 1 after whiners flooded the NYPD with 100 complaints about the planned event, an officer told the shop owners.

The neighborhood community board tattled to cops that the cousins did not secure the proper permits for the sidewalk bash, a source said.

“John Gotti’s dead. You can’t just do whatever you want … that’s the Howard Beach mentality,” said Deidra Duldulao, 38, who said she got terrifying death threats after complaining about the event on social media.

The blowback upset the pie-slinging brothers. Angelo Pellegrino took to social media to share the devastating news that the even had been whacked Wednesday, saying that “really terrible people in this world” were responsible for the shutdown.

“There’s always one or two bad eggs that ruin a great event like this for everybody, and then people piggyback on them and unfortunately, a great event like this gets canceled,” Nick Pellegrino, 33, told The Post, adding duo felt “a little mad, a little angry.”

They claimed they didn’t think the permit was necessary, considering dozens of similar events by small businesses were exploding across the city — including the viral Prince Street Pizza watch party that drew hundreds of fans in Brooklyn.

“I feel like a part of it because I’m a young, up-and-coming guy in this neighborhood. Sometimes people don’t want to see other people succeed,” said Angelo Pellegrino.

In one clip to the shop’s 18,000 followers, Angelo Pellegrino called out Duldulao by name — who told The Post she has been inundated with death threats in the days since.

“I’m receiving death threats, people want to egg my house, they want to kill my dog. All because of a watch party,” said the 38-year-old who claims she didn’t make an official complaint to the NYPD but simply aired her grievances on social media.

Duldulao herself had been trying to obtain permits for a farmers’ market on the same strip for years and was frustrated that the cousins were plowing ahead with their party without going through the proper certifications.

She added that her gripes got her booted from multiple local Facebook groups where she advertised her event planning services and fears her livelihood will suffer.

Howard Beach is famous as being the home of Gotti — the late Boss of the Gambino crime family — who was also famous for hosting unlicensed firework parties in nearby Ozone Park.

The Pellegrinos admitted they did not secure the proper permits to hold the sidewalk party, a long process that typically requires applying two months ahead of the event.

Brothers’ Raviolo, along with its neighboring shops La Torre Bakery and Twist It Top it Frozen Yogurt, planned to erect a few TVs on their shared sliver of Cross Bay Boulevard sidewalk for Game 1 Wednesday, where they expected a maximum of 100 people to celebrate together as the Knicks pounded the San Antonio Spurs.

All three businesses planned to give out free food and free T-shirts from Big Knicks Energy, a Knicks merch business Angelo Pellegrino runs.

“Nobody from this neighborhood has ever done anything like that,” said Angelo Pellegrino.

“There’s enough things that go on in this neighborhood and in New York that are no good. So I figured we were doing something that was so good.”

But Pellegrino remains confident that he will have a watch party in the works by Game 4 on Tuesday.

He’s already had several offers from local schools, churches and even the Howard Beach Lindenwood Civic groups to host the watch parties on their property, but Pellegrino wants it to be at his family’s shop, which has been around for four decades.

Brother’s Ravioli has also seen a surge in business since the incident, with dozens of people forking over cash for the “Brunsen, egg, and cheese.”

“We’re going to make right by everybody and everything will work in our favor,” said Nick Pellegrino.
