Angels' Mike Trout should stay far away from this AL East team in potential trade decision

Los Angeles Angels center fielder/designated hitter Mike Trout has shown no indication he'd like to waive the no-trade clause in his contract.

Trout's unwavering loyalty to the Angels is admirable. It's also stunning, at times. Los Angeles made the postseason just once in the future Hall of Famer's first 15 seasons with the club.

If Trout were to waive his no-trade rights, there would be a handful of teams with interest, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer wrote Wednesday.

The 34-year-old is hitting for power (11 home runs) and has a .436 OBP in 36 games thanks to a Major League high 36 walks.

Any team would love offensive production like that from a fan favorite who can sell tickets. But not all rosters are perfect fits, and some clubs are playing well below expectations.

"Baltimore's offense is outstanding on paper. Add Trout to the mix alongside Gunnar Henderson and Pete Alonso, and then they would really have something," Rymer wrote.

Orioles are a bad fit for Trout

"But is this window closing? It sure feels like it's closing," he added. "Since peaking with 101 wins in 2023, the Orioles are still struggling against a pattern of diminishing returns."

Not only are the Orioles not a good fit for Trout, but the division they compete in is competitive year after year.

The New York Yankees are firing on all cylinders, and even the Tampa Bay Rays, who were projected to finish as low as fifth in the AL East, have won nine of their last 10 games.

Even with a slow start, the Orioles may be in a better spot than the Angels. But Trout should aim much higher if he wants to finish his career with a year-in, year-out contender.
