Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has made a big impact off the court with a special surprise for her new hometown.

On Wednesday, Reese teamed up with Cash App and Project Backboard to unveil a newly renovated outdoor basketball court at Oakwood Beach, located on the South Side of Chicago.

In an Instagram Story, the WNBA All-Star shared her excitement, posting a photo of the court.

“New court in Chicago! So blessed to be able to do this in a second city that I can now call HOME!” Reese captioned.

The renovation project is more than just a fresh coat of paint. According to Project Backboard, the new court was designed to inspire young girls and women by creating a space that promotes sports, education and community pride.

Reese called the effort a meaningful way to give back, saying in a statement, “I’m so proud to partner with Cash App to give back to the city I’ve fallen in love with, in such a meaningful way.”

The court was created in partnership with Project Backboard, a nonprofit group that turns old public courts into works of art to help communities feel safer, encourage people of all ages to play and inspire creativity. With bright colors and bold lines, the court at Oakwood Beach is already drawing attention from residents and young athletes alike.

Reese’s partnership with Cash App goes beyond just basketball. The project also aims to promote financial education for young women. Organizers said they hope the court becomes a place where dreams begin.

Reese, who was drafted by the Chicago Sky in 2024, has quickly become one of the most recognizable faces in women’s sports. Now in her second year, Reese continues to dominate on the court while finding ways to give back.
