Angel Reese decries WNBA All-Star Game starters as ‘disrespectful’ to Dream

Angel Reese is used to it, but that doesn’t mean she has to like it.

Neither the Atlanta Dream star nor her teammates were selected as starters for the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game.

“I expect to be disrespected,” Reese told reporters Thursday, noting she was specifically upset at veteran teammate Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray being snubbed.

“For those two though, I think they work so hard and they put a lot of work in, and the way that they’re guarded every game and they [have to] adjust. The reason why we’re where we are is because of those two.”

Reese, a new addition to the Dream this season, has been a big part of the team rising to the top of the Eastern Conference, tied with the Liberty at 12-8 after Thursday’s loss to the Mystics.

The 24-year-old is one of two WNBA players averaging a double-double this season, leading the league in rebounds (11.6) and 24th in scoring (14.8 points per game).

She finished seventh among frontcourt players in All-Star voting — a combination of fan, player and media voting.

Howard and Gray had the fifth- and sixth-highest scores for guards and rank 12th and 13th in WNBA scoring, respective.

Howard and teammate Jordin Canada are top two in steals, as well.

“For us not to have anyone was just a slap in the face, but they’re not going to say anything,” Reese said. “I am.”

Dallas’ Paige Bueckers, Minnesota rookie Olivia Miles, Indiana’s Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell were voted starters at guard.

Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson, Liberty forward Breanna Stewart, Dallas’s Jessica Shephard, Indiana’s Aliyah Boston, Golden State’s Gabby Williams and and Minnesota’s Natasha Howard got the nod for front court starters.
