Analysts' bold prediction has Steelers landing $90 million QB

1 hour ago 3

It is no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback position has been a carousel of average players ever since Big Ben retired.

With the Steelers being average for the most part and having Aaron Rodgers last season, times are changing with Mike Tomlin out and Mike McCarthy in.

But the quarterback position is still in flux, with the Steelers reportedly on board with the idea of Rodgers coming back.

Now he comes CBS Sports' Garrett Podell, who in his prediction piece, has the Steelers landing free agent Malik Willis on a projected three-year $90 million deal.

Is Willis the right move for Pittsburgh?

I think the bigger question is, do the Steelers want to run it back with a 42-year-old Rodgers who gives the Steelers a clear ceiling, or does the franchise want change, and go for a younger player, and it might work, or it might not?

After years of being good enough to make the playoffs, but never good enough to win, maybe the time is now for the Steelers to break the mold and try something different.

McCarthy is good with young quarterbacks, and maybe Willis or even Will Howard can benefit from his knowledge.

Running it back with Rodgers feels foolish, and Willis at $30 million APY? Well, that's certainly a conversation starter.
