Analyst reveals Chiefs' ideal first round selection and fans will love it

1 hour ago 3

The Kansas City Chiefs remain an enigma ahead of the NFL Draft, as no one knows the route the franchise will go in the first round.

Armed with two first-round selections at No. 9 and No. 29, the Chiefs could have their choice of talent early on, before picking up another potential Day 1 starter later in the round.

With pass rush, receiver, and offensive line needs, the Chiefs will have several irons in the fire on draft night, but no one knows which way the franchise is leaning.

But Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski has named every team's ideal draft pick, and when it comes to the Chiefs, he's named Rueben Bain Jr.

"Would everyone like Bain to have longer levers than he does? Absolutely," Sobleski wrote. "Do those less-than-ideal appendages take away how dominant he was this past season for the Miami Hurricanes? Absolutely not.

"Despite featuring a top-10 defense last season, the Chiefs ranked among the league's bottom 10 in sacks. George Karlaftis requires a legitimate bookend, and Bain is a true three-down defender."

Chiefs set for Mahomes-led bounce back?

Well, they aren't going to be as bad as they were last season, are they?

Depending on how the draft plays out, plus Patrick Mahomes' rehab from his ACL injury, the Chiefs, in theory, should be better than they were last year.

Yes, losing Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson isn't ideal, but the Chiefs did pick up Kenneth Walker to fix the run game, so it will be interesting to see how the defense and rushing attack adjust.

The Chiefs still remain somewhat of a question mark because even if Mahomes does return, we don't know how healthy he'll be.

Even though a half-fit Mahomes is still better than half the league.
