Despite having a losing record, the Minnesota Twins remain in the thick of things in the American League Central. They are just four games behind the division-leading Chicago White Sox.
All it takes is for Minnesota to have a good week and the White Sox and Cleveland Guardians to have a bad week, and these standings will be flipped.
So while the players are focused on closing the gap in the division, the front office is starting to finalize its draft plans for next weekend, where they have been awarded the No. 3 pick.

Analyst explains the Twins' options at pick No. 3 in latest mock
It's been quite a while since the Twins had a pick within the top three. You'd have to go back to 2017 when they took Royce Lewis with their first-round pick.
Now, that was a pretty solid pick, and the front office will look to strike gold this year. However, with the third pick, it's more of a waiting game, seeing who the first two picks are going to be.
It's not set in stone, so Minnesota will have to have a few players in mind, but MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo believes Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey could be the one to fall to them.
"The Twins are in a position to take whichever member of the top three is available, and in this case, it's Lackey. They're also discussing a trio across three demographics: Jackson Flora, Jacob Lombard and Drew Burress."
Lackey is an exciting bat with a great profile behind the plate, but there are thoughts he could go No. 1 or 2, and if that's the case, the Twins would shift to either Roch Cholowsky, Grady Emerson, or even expanding a bit more and taking Jackson Flora, Jacob Lombard, or Drew Burress.
The Twins could really go in any direction; it's just going to come down to who is available and who the front office feels more comfortable taking.
