Former “American Idol” star Caleb Flynn wiped sweat from his brow as a cringey love song he wrote for his mistress played at his murder trial Wednesday — as onlookers stifled back laughter, footage shows.
Flynn, 40 — who’s accused of murdering his 37-year-old wife, Ashley Flynn, at their Ohio home in February — wrote two painfully corny tune for his mistress Alleigha Botner, 24, according to prosecutors, which played the songs out loud during the trial.
“If somewhere you feel this, if somewhere you’re whole, know that you still own every piece of my soul,” song, which was produced by AI, blared.
“So here’s to the third, and the us that we lost,” it continues, in an apparent reference the anniversary of the day he met Botner. “The third of every month I still say your name.”
As the song played, loved ones of Ashley Flynn could be seen smirking in the courtroom as they appeared to try not to crack up. At one point, a visibly uncomfortable Caleb Flynn took a tissue and moped his forehead.
“If the stars had aligned just a moment more, we’d be old on the porch counting dreams not closed doors,” the song continues.
The dad of two is accused of fatally shooting his wife in her head after having a years-long affair with Botner, then staging the scene to look like a break-in, according to prosecutors.
