• The Women — I loved this well-written story about a part of history I’ve not read much on and learned so much. It does have some language and some PG-13 content, but I felt it was appropriate for the context of the book. It also goes to show how much trauma impacts people and how we never know what heavy burdens people are carrying.
• Atomic Habits – This is, by far, my very favorite book on habits. James Clear, the author, does such a great job of unpacking why and how to build good habits. I’ve read a lot of book on this topic and I feel like he has a very fresh and encouraging approach. If you feel like you are forever failing at follow through or you just can’t seem to stick with good habits, get a copy of this book.
• Remarkably Bright Creatures – This book completely surprised me by how much I loved it and grew attached to the quirky characters in it — including an octopus! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I actually bought a copy so I could finish reading it instead of listening to it! I rarely do that, so you know I loved the book. If you enjoy a good fiction story told from different vantage points that spans a wide variety of ages and interests, definitely check this book out.
• The Great Alone – This book is on my top 20 favorite audiobooks I’ve listen to and vividly depicts the harsh, isolating life in Alaska.
• The Whole Brain Child – This was highly recommended to by one of our kids’ counselors and and one of their therapists in the past few years and I couldn’t stop talking about it when I read it. It is packed with great suggestions and strategies for helping our kids process the world, relate better with others, and feel more loved and secure.
