It has been a CRAZY month for reality TV fans. As if Taylor Frankie Paul‘s canceled season of The Bachelorette or Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jessi Draper‘s impending divorce wasn’t enough drama for one month, a new scandal involving Summer House stars Amanda Batula and West Wilson has also come to the surface.
Rumors about an alleged hookup between Wilson and Batula, who announced her separation from Kyle Cooke in February, initially started on the celebrity gossip Instagram page, Deux Moi. While most of us Bravo fans initially brushed off the rumors as false, some cryptic social media activity from the Summer House cast last weekend seemed to indicate that trouble was brewing, specifically between Batula and Ciara Miller, Wilson’s ex. Today, Batula and Wilson finally commented on the gossip in a joint statement confirming their budding romance.
“We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” they wrote in the statement. “It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”
“We’ve shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected,” they continued. “Our connection grew out of a genuine long-standing friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.”
They added, “As our feelings evolved, we wanted to take time to understand exactly what we were feeling. We also recognize that this has had an impact beyond just us and never wanted our actions to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless. We truly appreciate the understanding and respect as we navigate this.”
Photo: Getty ImagesThis news is, of course, shocking to the Bravo universe. Not only is Wilson close friends with Cooke, Batula’s estranged husband, but he also dated Miller, one of Batula’s best friends. As seen in the currently airing season of Summer House, Miller and Wilson were finally getting back to a good place in their friendship, and both even admitted to still having feelings for one another. So, what went wrong?! How did Batula and Wilson end up together instead?! These are questions the Season 10 reunion is sure to answer. In fact, we bet Andy Cohen is putting his cards together as we speak.
Fans, on the other hand, have rushed to Miller’s defense on social media.
“This is so much worse than ‘scandoval,'” one wrote on X. “Amanda is still married to Kyle. Ciara was there for Amanda. They were truly best friends. West was leading on Ciara this season, once again, and playing with her feelings. Kyle and Ciara were stabbed in the back. Amanda and West are trash.”
Another added, “I pray Ciara is done, done, done with both of these hypocrites,” while someone else said, “Not right at all. New York is big enough to find someone other than your husband’s friend or your friend’s ex-boyfriend.”
New episodes of Summer House air every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
