Amanda Balionis' non-profit organization aims to help veterans

As an avid lover of dogs, Amanda Balionis started up an organization to protect and advocate for her furry friends. Before starting up Puppes and Golf, she spent a lot of her time volunteering for K9s for Warriors while working for the PGA Tour in Florida.

She went on to take a job with Callaway on the West Coast and realized that she could no longer volunteer for the organization. However, the sports analyst found a way to blend together her love for golf and dogs while also making sure that veterans are supported through K9s for Warriors.

Here's a look at Amanda Balionis' recollection of starting up Puppies and Golf (via Golf Digest):

"A friend of mine owns an apparel company called “Puppies Make Me Happy,” and I thought, “Why don’t we do a ‘Puppies and Golf’ shirt?” We’ll have all the proceeds go to K9s for Warriors, so even if I can’t physically be volunteering, it’s still a great way to give back and, more importantly, spread awareness about this national organization. Callaway also joined the cause, allowing me to take over a hole at “Links at PetCo Park” and created some limited edition wedges that went up for auction. With all of that, we were able to raise over $30,000 and sponsor a dog."

Through Puppies and Golf, Amanda Balionis provides financial assistance to pet parents and animal shelters across the nation. She also pairs military veterans with a service dog to help them cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other invisible injuries. The non-profit organization supports K9s for Warriors, Warrior Canine Connection, and Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities ECAD).
