"Amanda Anisimova apologized... Coco Gauff wasn't wrong" - Jessica Pegula responds to 'ghosting' claims from Iga Swiatek & more amid WTA Finals

Jessica Pegula shared her response to being picked by Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, and Amanda Anisimova as the tennis player who would ghost them amid the ongoing WTA Finals. The tournament began on November 1 and is being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During the Halloween week and ongoing tournament, players were asked which player on the tour would ghost them. Most of the players, including Gauff, Anisimova, and Swiatek, answered Pegula. The 21-year-old answered:

"Jess. I mean, she has like a million times. We've been supposed to go to the movies so many times and everytime I;m like, 'let me know when you're free' and then she goes and sees the movie without me. But she is the one who initiated the movie and hangout in the first place. So, Jess. A 100%."

Following Gauff, Anisimova also said Jeff, stating that she doesn't know her that well and she seemed like she would forget to text back. Adding to this, Swiatek also came up with the same answer as the aforementioned two players.

Pegula responded to their answers, admitting that Gauff is right. However, she didn't agree with Iga's answer and also revealed that Anisimova lightheartedly apologized to her.

"I mean Iga even. I'm like, I respond. That's not right. Amanda like apologized, she like message me, 'I'm so sorry, I was just so tired. I didn't mean to call you out like that.' I was like dude, it's not that serious. I don't really care. Coco wasn't wrong. She said she'll let it go in 2026 though," said Jessica Pegula.

The 31-year-old is currently scheduled to play in her WTA Finals' second round against Aryna Sabalenka on November 4, 2025.

When Jessica Pegula regretted ghosting Coco Gauff after inviting her for a movie

Earlier this year in February, during the Dubai Tennis Championships, Coco Gauff accused Jessica Pegula of ignoring her messages. The 21-year-old playfully called her 'fake' for not responding to her text after they decided to watch the newly released Captain America movie together.

During a promotional WTA shoot at the championships, Gauff said:

“You never responded to my text. This girl invited me to go to the movie, I said let me know when you wanna go, and then she never responded. She is fake,” Gauff said.

Reposting the WTA video of her complaining about Jessica Pegula on her Instagram story, she wrote:

“She texted me on Friday and it is now Sunday and still no response… smh @jpegula 😂 gonna go watch the movie by myself now.”

A day later, Gauff went to watch the movie alone and shared the snaps on her social media. She wrote:

"Lol @jpegula I made it without you”

The 31-year-old quickly reposted Gauff's story and went on to share a snapshot of their chat asking Gauff, 'How was the movie😂?' Along with this, Pegula also added a playful remark:

"Note to self - respond to @cocogauff or get cooked😂"

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff locked horns in the first round of the WTA Finals. The former delivered a stellar performance and registered a 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-2 win against the 21-year-old.
