Former NFL wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey was arrested for insurance fraud on Wednesday, per TMZ.
Jeffrey, who won Super Bowl 52 with the Philadelphia Eagles after playing for the Chicago Bears, was briefly in jail for "conceal/fail to disclose insurance benefit or payment," TMZ reported.
Jeffrey reportedly could face up to five years in prison by California law.

TMZ reported on Friday that earlier in the week, Jeffrey was arrested in California for insurance fraud.
Jeffery's arrest was for "conceal/fail to disclose insurance benefit or payment," per TMZ, and he was booked into jail around 8 a.m. on Wednesday before later being released.
Further details were not yet available on Jeffrey's arrest, TMZ reported, but under California law, his insurance fraud charge is considered a felony, and it can carry "up to five years in prison and/or a fine that's double the amount of the fraud."
The former wide receiver last played in the NFL in 2020, a 2012 second-round pick out of South Carolina by the Bears who played for only Chicago and Philadelphia. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2013, and in the Eagles' 2018 Super Bowl win over the Patriots, Jeffrey had three catches for 73 yards and a touchdown.
