Alperen Sengun continues to be one of the foundational pieces of the Houston Rockets' long-term plans. After another stellar campaign during the 2025-26 season, the All-Star center remains firmly committed to Houston with a contract that keeps him with the franchise through the 2030 season.
Sengun recently found himself in the spotlight after a newly drafted rookie publicly identified him as the player he most wants to challenge during his first NBA season. Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Labaron Philon Jr. went viral during a recent social media interview when he was asked which NBA player he most wanted to cross over. Without hesitation, Philon pointed directly at Sengun.
“I be on TikTok a lot, so if you really just be on there, they’d be saying he play like he got a refrigerator on his back or something like that,” Philon said.
Over five NBA seasons, Sengun has steadily elevated every aspect of his game. The Rockets' young star transformed from a promising prospect into one of the Rockets' franchise cornerstones.
Last season, Sengun averaged 20.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. By earning his second consecutive All-Star selection in 2026, he further established himself among the NBA's elite offensive centers alongside Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Domantas Sabonis.
Today, Sengun's unique blend of dominant post scoring, elite passing ability, and offensive versatility makes him the driving force behind Houston's success. While his status as the Rockets' franchise centerpiece appears secure, all eyes will be on his first matchup against the confident 76ers rookie who has already publicly called him out before playing his first NBA game.
