Alex Anzalone among handful of Detroit Lions players returning to practice

For the first time in training camp, linebacker Alex Anzalone is taking the practice field for the Detroit Lions.

Anzalone, who admitted he's unhappy with his contract situation as he enters the final year of his deal, hadn't been able to take the practice field over the first week of camp because of a hamstring injury.

But that is apparently behind him. Richard Silva of The Detroit News reported that Anzalone is on the practice field on Saturday, and is one of five players returning.

Along with Anzalone, rookie Tyleik Williams is back after sitting out Friday for personal reasons, the details of which have not been revealed.

In addition, cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr., defensive lineman Roy Lopez and edge rusher Al-Quadin Muhammad are back in action.

Rakestraw suffered a chest contusion during the first practice of training camp. Lopez had his foot stepped on during the team's second practice of camp.

After being ravaged by injuries last season, the Lions haven't been off to a great start at training camp this year, so it's great to see so many players coming back.

As for Anzalone's contract, head coach Dan Campbell provided a positive update on Friday, saying he thinks Anzalone and the Lions are "going to be good."
