Alabama wide receivers notice swagger in QB Ty Simpson

While the quarterback battle continues at Alabama, one quarterback seems to have caught the eye of his teammates, and that’s Ty Simpson.

Simpson has already won over some of his teammates, and they’ve noticed a difference in him that they haven’t seen before. A swagger that he hasn’t had before, and they like it.

Wide receiver Ryan Williams said to the Tuscaloosa News that Simpson is finally winning the mental battle.

"Even Ty, it's hard to be vocal just because you don't know if you deserve to talk," Williams said.

Williams said that Simpson has earned the right to talk. "He knows he deserves to talk and he's been leading by example, so it's been great to watch him."

Veteran wideout Germie Bernard echoed Williams' sentiments about Simpson.

"Not being able to show what you can do for three years, that can kind of deter your confidence, but him knowing that he has to step up as a leader ... that this is his last year, and he has an opportunity to start, you have to have some sense of confidence to be that starting quarterback," Bernard said. "We can tell, man. He's been balling and he's been doing his thing for sure."

Expectations have been high for Simpson since he came to Alabama, and now that he’s time has come, his teammates are excited for him. Like other Bama QBs in the past, Simpson has had to wait his turn to be a starter.

Through that time, he had to deal with rumors of him transferring, but his faith never wavered, and according to most who are close to the program, this may indeed be Ty Simpson’s season, and his teammates can’t be happier for a guy who they feel deserves this chance.
