Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer unveils his no-nonsense philosophy for Crimson Tide to avoid 'SEC Playoff' distractions

Alabama is taking it all one game at a time. This simple-yet-no-nonsense philosophy of Crimson Tide head football coach Kalen DeBoer is winning games for the 8-2 program, as DeBoer explained in his press conference previewing Oklahoma week.

"We don't really talk about the outside," DeBoer said to the media when asked about his strategy for dealing with the SEC championship and playoff pressure's "noise".

"We just focus on what we're doing right now because we know that if we don't take care of our business, the rest of it doesn't matter. And I guess it seems simple, I hope it's simple for our guys even though I understand the distractions and the noise is out there everywhere. And I think we are really honed in and the guys really believe in and have understood the significance of just really focusing on where we're at right now. We talk about the next plays, the most important plays in the next game, the most important game. We haven't thought of anything beyond Oklahoma."

Additionally, DeBoer also had some praise for his team for handling Mercer so dominantly.

"And I didn't go to this last week but I think our guys did a great job of just focusing on Mercer. I really do. I think they really honed in on trying to make themselves the best they can be and continue to get better, and that will put us in a position to now play Oklahoma, we give ourselves a better chance to win. So, we're really locked in on the right things right now," DeBoer said.

Alabama's path to the SEC Championship is almost clear

Fortunately, the stars are also in Alabama's favor. The past two weeks have turned out perfectly for Alabama, as Georgia lost to Ole Miss in Week 11 and Tennessee lost to Georgia in Week 12; giving Alabama an advantage over both.

Now all the Tide needs is to have Missouri win one of its final two games against Arkansas or Mississippi State to give Alabama an advantage over Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, and Ole Miss, per The Tuscaloosa News.

However, Alabama also needs to win their remaining regular season games over Oklahoma and Auburn.

DeBoer handles these two, and Missouri's luck also turns out to be in their favor, and Bama will be fighting for the SEC championship this season.
