Aidan Hutchinson dominates Lions scrimmage, with Penei Sewell among the victims

Aidan Hutchinson is putting on a show at Detroit Lions training camp.

The fourth-year edge rusher is returning from a significant leg injury that limited him to five games last year, but it appears he hasn't lost a step.

During Tuesday's practice, Hutchinson tallied four sacks in the team scrimmage and also dominated All-Pro offensive tackle Penei Sewell in a rep, per The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner.

"No one in Detroit need worry about Aidan Hutchinson. He’s back. Like all the way," Baumgardner wrote on X. "Had 4 sacks in today’s scrimmage including as dominant a practice rep vs. Penei Sewell as I’ve seen from anyone in four years."

Before suffering a season-ending injury in Week 6, Hutchinson was on pace for a career year in 2024. The former No.2 overall pick tallied 7.5 sacks and 45 quarterback pressures in just five appearances and looked like one of the most prolific pass rushers in football.

Heading into the 2025 campaign, Hutchinson should be fully healthy and ready to wreak havoc. The 24-year-old is also eligible for a contract extension, and if Detroit decides to wait until next offseason to extend him, that's just extra motivation to post a dynamic season.

The Lions will kick off the preseason on Thursday, as they will travel to Canton for the Hall of Fame game versus the Los Angeles Chargers.
