'Ah, f--k it. Pray for Oregon': Curt Cignetti's message before Oregon revealed in new book

1 hour ago 2

We've learned many things about Curt Cignetti during his time as the Indiana Hoosiers football coach. After going 16-0 to win a national championship, it's clear nobody has to Google him anymore.

There was a tense moment during last year's historic season for the Hoosiers with a trip to Eugene to face Oregon. The hostile environment helped fuel their upset victory. One of Cignetti's most epic pregame moments from that day will be detailed in a forthcoming book, "Unthinkable to Unstoppable: How Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers Stunned College Football."

As the Hoosiers prepared to come out of the locker room, Cignetti forgot to follow his normal routine before leading his team onto the field. IU football strength coach Derek Owings tried to remind Cignetti to lead the team in prayer.

"Coach, are we going to pray?" Owings asked. After checking his watch, Cignetti replied, "Ah, f--k it. Pray for Oregon."

Needless to say, this is going to turn into another zinger for Cignetti. Indiana defeated Oregon by a score of 30-20. The Hoosiers' defense dismantled the Ducks, sacking Dante Moore six times. They applied pressure relentlessly, and it was the first time the rest of the nation knew Indiana was a legit contender.
