Netflix’s new dating show, Age of Attraction, sets out to prove whether or not age actually matters when searching for true love.
Hosted by married couple Nick Viall and Natalie Joy, who have an 18-year age difference themselves, Age of Attraction brings on a group of single men and women ranging from their early 20s to their early 60s. Those who are able to form a connection without ever revealing their age to each other are given an opportunity to go to the Promise Room, where they pledge their commitment to trying out a relationship and finally reveal how old they are.
After expressing her interest in older men (and her parents’ disapproval of such), Vanelle Fenmou finds herself in a relationship with Jorge Sanchez. While it’s clear that he’s older than her, even Vanelle is shocked when she finds out Jorge’s true age. Still, it doesn’t scare her, and they decide to give their blossoming relationship a go in the real world. Unfortunately, their compatibility proves to be more of an issue than their massive age gap.
So, how old are Jorge and Vanelle? And what happened to them on Age of Attraction? Keep reading for everything we know!
What are Jorge and Vanelle’s ages?
Jorge and Vanelle had the biggest (and most shocking) age difference in the show. At 33 years apart, Jorge revealed he was 60 years old, while Vanelle was only 27.
Why did Jorge and Vanelle leave Age of Attraction?
Jorge and Vanelle had a rather troubled time on Age of Attraction. In the promise room, Vanelle made it clear to Jorge that she, one, was practicing celibacy, and two, wanted children someday. While Jorge initially seemed just fine with her two stipulations—even sharing that he had no interest in having baby mamas he wasn’t married to—it soon became clear that he wasn’t telling the full truth.
In Episode 4, Jorge revealed to Vanelle that he already had kids — after failing to bring them up when they first talked about having children in the Promise Room. Red flag No. 1! In the next episode, he confessed to cameras that her celibacy journey “could become a very big issue for him” after having an off-camera disagreement about it the night before. Red flag No. 2! Things took an even darker turn when the couple was approached by a stranger making “threatening remarks” (again, off-camera). Vanelle was uncomfortable with Jorge’s fiery response to the man — and, because of her unwillingness to support him in that moment, he got mad at her. Red flag No. 3!
“Every time we have a conversation it feels like he’s talking at me, not talking with me,” Vanelle said. “Living together, we’re seeing our viewpoints are just very far off. I don’t necessarily think it has anything to do with his age. It’s just the type of person he is. We’re really just not compatible, in my opinion.”
The couple ultimately decided to end their relationship by the end of Episode 5, taking them out of the show altogether.
