Soon she’ll set fire to the screen.
Adele is set to make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s upcoming film “Cry to Heaven,” according to a new report.
The movie will be an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel set in the fiery music world of 18th century Italy. And it boasts a cast of heavy hitters.
Alongside Adele are actors Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann and Lux Pascal.
“Cry to Heaven” marks fashion designer Ford’s third film as a director, after 2009’s “A Single Man” and 2016’s “Nocturnal Animals.”
“A Single Man” netted Firth an Oscar nod for best actor, while “Nocturnal Animals” star Michael Shannon received a nomination for best supporting actor.
Ford’s new movie, the screenplay of which he wrote, begins filming in January, according to Deadline, and is aiming for a Fall 2026 release.
Adele has kept a relatively low profile since her two-year Las Vegas residency ended in 2024.
The 37-year-old Grammy winner is currently on an indefinite hiatus from music after her successful run of 100 concerts at Caesars Palace.
“I have 10 shows to do,” she said onstage in 2024 as the stint was about to end. “But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart.”
Many musicians have made the leap to acting before to varying degrees of success.
In recent years, Ariana Grande has starred in the “Wicked” films, the first of which grossed $756 million worldwide, and received a 2025 Oscar nomination for her efforts.
Taylor Swift, meanwhile, appeared in “Cats” and “Amsterdam,” both of which were flops that respectively hold a 19% and 31% score on RottenTomatoes.
