The month of June is finally here, meaning A.J. Brown's departure from the Philadelphia Eagles could happen at any time.
It's been known for a while now that Brown would be wearing a new uniform in 2026, especially after the Eagles traded for Dontayvion Wicks and selected Makai Lemon in Round 1 of April's draft to add to the receiver room.
The New England Patriots have been considered the favorite to land Brown in a trade with the Eagles, and it sounds like the deal between New England and Philadelphia could be coming to fruition in the near future.
Adam Schefter believes Brown will be traded to Patriots in next 24 hours
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter stated that he thinks Brown will get traded to New England in the next 24 hours.
Schefter added that the Patriots and Eagles haven't been in touch regarding Brown in recent weeks, but the deal is still on track to happen.
"The trade can't be processed until 4 p.m. ET on Monday," Schefter said. " It's still tracking to happen, so I believe A.J. Brown will be a Patriot in the next 24 hours."
Schefter also said the trade will likely send a 2028 first-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for their disgruntled star receiver.
New England has a glaring hole for a No. 1 receiver to support quarterback Drake Maye, but that need could get filled in the next day with Brown likely coming to town. Though Brown is coming off a down year, he is still one of the most dynamic players in the sport and should take the Patriots' offense to the next level.
As for the Eagles, Brown's exit has been expected for almost two months. DeVonta Smith, Lemon, and Wicks will now be tasked to serve as the primary pass catchers for quarterback Jalen Hurts, along with tight end Dallas Goedert.
