Adam Schefter makes definitive statement on Klint Kubiak and Raiders, Cardinals jobs

The Klint Kubiak watch for the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders has been going on for quite some time now.

Both teams are expected to interview Kubiak for a second time this weekend, and it would appear he is the top candidate for both teams.

If Kubiak agrees to a deal with one of those two teams, it can't be made official until after the Super Bowl, per league rules.

On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter dropped a very interesting nugget on Kubiak when it comes to both openings.

Schefter did not say where Kubiak would land, but he definitively stated Kubiak will take one of the two jobs, which is the first time we've seen a definitive statement like that on Kubiak's plans.

"[Klint Kubiak] is going to get the Raiders or the Cardinals job," Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show.

McAfee pressed Schefter further, asking: "OK, so he's definitely getting one of those jobs?"

"He's definitely getting one of those jobs," Schefter responded.

While this would seem like the obvious outcome on the surface given those are the only two teams left without a head coach, Kubiak does have the option of staying with the Seattle Seahawks and further building his resume for 2027.

But a lot can change between now and then and Kubiak might want to strike while the iron is hot.

We have to believe the Raiders have the edge over Arizona.

After all, Las Vegas has the No. 1 pick that will almost certainly turn into Fernando Mendoza, and they have excellent foundational pieces on offense in Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty.

Adding to that, Las Vegas is projected to have the second-most cap space in the NFL with a whopping $81.3 million.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals have a major question mark at quarterback with Kyler Murray, and the Cardinals' cap space situation is inferior to Las Vegas' by nearly $51 million.

While no deal with Kubiak can be made official until after the Super Bowl, we may not have to wait that long for an answer on where he lands.

If one team hires a head coach over the weekend or in the week leading up to the Super Bowl, that will likely indicate the other team has landed Kubiak.
