Adam Sandler's reaction on being asked to officiate Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding

It's been almost a week since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tied the knot at Madison Square Garden, where comedian and actor Adam Sandler took on the role of the officiant. Fans were surprised to learn that the "Happy Gilmore" actor was a part of the wedding, but not more than Sandler himself when he got the call from the couple.

The comedian “said yes right away” and "was incredibly honored to be part of such a special day,” the insider told People of Sandler's reaction.

The source added that he was the "perfect person" for the role given his longtime marriage to life, Jackie Sandler. The couple celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary last month. The couple shares two daughters: Sadie Madison (born in 2006) and Sunny Madeline (born in 2008).

After the ceremony, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid shared what advice Sandler gave the newlyweds.

“Adam Sandler conducted the service there and he told them, ‘Keep kissing,’” Reid said, per The Deseret News. “So, in its simplest form. That’s a good thing.”

Kelce and Sandler worked together on Happy Gilmore 2, where the Kansas City Chiefs star played a waiter. The veteran actor praised him for his laidback and comedic attitude.

“Travis is such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell,” Sandler told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.”

He also had nothing but nice things to say about Swift being a kind person.

"Taylor is so d--n nice to my family and has always been,” Sandler said. “My kids have met Taylor a bunch of times over the years, and she’s ridiculously nice to them and warm."

Swift and Kelce got married in front of 1,000 of their friends, family, and other A-list celebrities like Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and more.
