Adam Devine claims Zac Efron ghosted him after not speaking for years: ‘I haven’t talked with him since’

Adam Devine has a bone to pick with Zac Efron.

After the pair starred in the 2016 rom-com “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” together, the “High School Musical” star, 37, told the “Pitch Perfect” alum, 41, he was coming to stay at his house — but never showed.

“Zac calls me — hasn’t called me in a couple years — and calls me out of the blue. He’s on some private island somewhere, and he’s like, ‘Hey man, I just want to let you know that I miss you,'” Devine recounted on Wednesday’s episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast.

“And I’m like, ‘I miss you too, dude. You’re a good friend of mine, yada, yada.’ And he’s like, ‘You still have that place down by the beach?’ And I’m like ‘I do,'” he continued.

“And he’s like, ‘Would it be cool if I came and crashed with you for two weeks?’ And I’m like ‘Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, come stay with me.’ And he’s like ‘All right, I’m going to call you tomorrow to get all the details, and then I’ll be there early next week, OK?’ And then you’ll send me the address and all that.'”

Devine filled in his wife, Chloe Bridges, in on the plan. The couple, who tied the knot in 2021, are also parents to son Beau, 1.

“I’m like, ‘Chloe, I think Zac’s going to come live here for a couple weeks. I don’t know.’ And she’s like, ‘OK, yeah, I guess so,'” he recounted, before claiming, “And then he ghosted me, dude. Never called back. I even texted him like, ‘Are you gonna stay here?’ And I haven’t talked with him since, so I have no idea, dude, no idea.”

During the episode, Devine also got candid on a terrifying childhood incident: being run over by a cement truck at just 11 years old.

The past three years, the “Out-Laws” actor has been in constant pain, which has made his life “a nightmare.” Devine admitted he has been “having spasms all over” and it “hurts to sit for too long, it hurts to stand for too long, and it hurts to walk for too long.”

Doctors “don’t really know” what’s happening or why, but at one point they told him the worst case scenario.

“They told me I was dying, literally, within this last year they told me that,” shared Devine.

Now, after a stem cell treatment, the “Magic Camp” vet is “the best” he’s been in three years.

Devine previously opened up about his childhood accident to Entertainment Weekly in 2016. He recounted leaving a store with friends when “one buddy was across the street” and yelled ‘Come on!'” meaning “hurry up,” but Devine took that to mean “‘the coast is clear!'”

He then stepped into the road with his bike and was struck by a cement truck.

“They say the reason I lived was the bike took the hit first,” Devine said. “I still slid 500 feet. Picked me up under the first two wheels and then spit me out.”

The star went through 25 surgeries after the accident with doctors suggesting he may suffer from a rare autoimmune disorder called stiff-person syndrome, which is a degenerative condition that causes muscle stiffness and spasms.

Devine remembered he was told the “average life expectancy is six years for someone who has it.”

“They told me that I had that literally a month before my son Beau was born.”

Eventually, the “Righteous Gemstones” actor visited “the guy who coined the phrase stiff-person syndrome,” and he told Devine that his current issues do stem from that childhood accident.

“I think I just got so tight and so tightly wound,” expressed Devine, “and my body has all these things that are a little wonky and a little wrong with it, that I just sort of snapped. I think I’m still dealing with it, but it’s been three years now.”
