Abhishek Sharma led the charge for India with a 37-ball 68 in the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, October 31. However, this did not help India's cause, as they lost the match by four wickets.
India batted first in this game but were put through the paces by the Australian bowlers. Only Sharma provided some resistance with his knock, which consisted of eight boundaries and two hits out of the park.
Lower-order batter and fast bowler Harshit Rana was the second top-scorer with a 33-ball 35, as India folded for 125 in 18.4 overs. Apart from Sharma and Rana, no other Indian batter reached double digits.
Sharma, who was threatening to take the game away from the Aussies and help India set up a big total, was caught plumb in front by seamer Nathan Ellis in the 19th over. Soon after his dismissal, Jasprit Bumrah was run out, bringing an end to the Indian innings.
Sharma tried to shuffle across the stumps and flick a yorker from Ellis away to the leg side, but failed to bring his bat down in time. The delivery came in quickly and rapped him on the pads, while the umpire declared him out leg before wicket.

Australia lead India 1-0 in the five-match T20I series
With victory in the second match, Australia lead the five-game series 1-0 after the first had to be abandoned due to rain in Canberra. Josh Hazlewood was the wrecker-in-chief for Australia in the second T20I, returning with figures of 3-13.
In the second innings, the hosts had no trouble chasing down India's measly target of 126. Openers Mitchell Marsh (46) and Travis Head (28) got the Aussies off to a good start and were separated only in the fifth over after 51 runs had been scored.
Later, Josh Inglis struck a run-a-ball 20 and Mitchell Owen contributed 14 off 10 deliveries. Although the likes of Tim David and Matthew Short got out quickly, the Kangaroos were home and dry quite comfortably in 13.2 overs.
