Aaron Rodgers won't wait long for revenge game vs. Jets if he signs with Steelers

With 2025 schedule leaks coming fast and furious on Wednesday ahead of the official release at 8 p.m. ET, one of the rumored matchups to leak is a Week 1 showdown between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Why is that interesting? Well, it includes a few revenge angles, assuming Aaron Rodgers actually signs with the Steelers.

According to Matt O'Leary of the Just Jets podcast and Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Jets will host the Steelers in Week 1 at MetLife Stadium.

The other revenge angle from that contest will be with quarterback Justin Fields, who left the Steelers for New York earlier this offseason. And, by all accounts, Fields preferred the Jets over the Steelers.

Rodgers will definitely want to stick it to his former team after how things went down with his being cut. Not only did the Jets cut him loose, but Rodgers wasn't happy with how it all went down, as he told Pat McAfee.

"There's so many beautiful things about the two years that I had [in New York]," Rodgers said. "Obviously, most of them off the field. But I wasn't upset about it, I was surprised. I felt like there wasn't an ample amount of respect in that meeting... But I am thankful for my time with the Jets. I'm disappointed it didn't work out better."

While a Rodgers versus Jets matchup in Week 1 would be electric, there is still no guarantee that the future Hall of Famer will play in 2025.

In the aforementioned appearance on McAfee's show, Rodgers revealed that retirement was indeed on the table for him.

"I'm open to anything and attached to nothing," Rodgers said. "Retirement could still be a possibility, but right now my focus has been -- and will continue to be -- on my personal life. And that's what I've told the coaches.

"There's still conversations that are being had," he added. "It's all been very honest lines of communication."

Hopefully Rodgers doesn't rob us of what would be one of the most interesting revenge games of 2025.
