We are now a week into May, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, at least publicly, have zero clue as to what Aaron Rodgers is doing in 2026.
Is he retiring? Is he going to play for the Steelers or another team? Right now, everything is on the table, and in truth, many thought a decision would be made by now, even owner Art Rooney II.
Yet, here we are, and Mike McCarthy, in his first year as Steelers head coach, doesn't know who his starter could be.
For Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim, whether or not Rodgers returns is the NFL's biggest question of the offseason.
"For the second consecutive year, it remains a mystery if and/or when Aaron Rodgers will sign with the Steelers,” Eva Geitheim. “Owner Art Rooney II acknowledged last week that he thought the Steelers would have had an answer by now on whether Rodgers will be returning.
“None of the Steelers’ quarterback options are inspiring, perhaps leaving them hoping they’ll end up in a good position to find their long-term solution next April.”

How long will Steelers wait?
Well, considering the Steelers' last game was on January 12th, and we are now in May, that's over three months. Surely that is enough time to come to a decision, right? Even one as big as this is for Aaron?
The Steelers are essentially waiting on him when they could have been a little more proactive in trying to get an answer from the four-time MVP. Which tells me they are perfectly fine either way.
So, as the Steelers turn to begin their offseason workouts in the coming weeks, they'll likely do so, with this silly Rodger will he or won't he saga hanging over the franchise.
And that isn't a great spot to be for McCarthy in his first year as Steelers coach.
