Aaron Rodgers made a huge announcement on his future in the NFL during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback told McAfee that 2025 will likely be the final season of his illustrious career. Rodgers adds that retiring after the 2025 campaign was the reasons why he only took a one year deal with Pittsburgh.
“I’m pretty sure this is my last season and that’s why we did the one year deal. I’ve played twenty years and I’ve enjoyed it. There’s no better way to finish it than with Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers," Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
Rodgers only playing a season with the Steelers has been the expectation, as the veteran signal-caller will turn 42 in December and has nothing left to prove. The four-time league MVP will be enshrined into Canton one day as one of the greatest quarterbacks of the modern era.
Though he will only play one more year, Rodgers has a chance to compete for a Super Bowl in 2025 with the Steelers. Pittsburgh is in a tough division, but the team has been able to post winning seasons consistently despite subpar quarterback play.
If Rodgers can provide solid play and take care of the football, the Steelers should be a playoff team once again and we'll see if A-Rod has one more magical run left in him.
