Aaron Judge passes Lou Gehrig in Yankees history book after latest game

The New York Yankees broke out of their offensive slump against the Athletics on Sunday. They scored 12 runs against the A's, and Aaron Judge made some history as well.

Judge homered twice on Sunday, giving him 30 home runs in total. He is second in all of baseball in home runs, behind only Cal Raleigh. However, his multi-homer game moved him up the Yankees leaderboard. It was his 44th multi-homer game, passing Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, per MLB's Sarah Langs.

Gehrig played 17 seasons for the Yankees and had put together 43 multi-homer games. Gehrig was a two-time MVP, seven-time All-Star, seven-time World Series champion, batting champion and Triple Crown winner. Judge is only in his 10th season, but has already put together a great resume.

Judge is also a two-time MVP and seems to be on the way to his third win. He is a six-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger as well. This season he is slashing .356/.458/.722. He leads baseball in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS. He has already been named an All-Star for this season as well.

Judge is one of the best power hitters of this generation. He has 345 career home runs and broke the American League home run record in 2022. Judge now trails just Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth in multi-home run games in Yankees history.

Judge is just two multi-homer games behind Mantle, but he has some work to do to catch Ruth. Ruth had 68 such games in his Hall of Fame career.
