The Los Angeles Rams, as of a week ago, were already looking at a very promising 2026 NFL season.
And then they traded for Myles Garrett. And now Aaron Donald might come back.
The Garrett trade was unexpected, sort of, but it was one of those deals that after the fact everyone looked at and could make some sense of.
A Donald return from retirement after not playing in the NFL since 2023? That'd be astounding.
Of course, there's pretty much no doubt about Donald's ability to get back on a field and contribute. He's one of the best interior defensive linemen ever, and while he's 35, he also still seems to be in immense shape.
It's more just a surprise that after seeming so content in retirement, Donald would think about this.
Garrett apparently has a strong pull.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Tuesday evening that he texted Donald, and this was the response he got about the possibility of the all-time great making a comeback:
“I’m for sure flirting with the idea. Helluva an opportunity with the Super Bowl in SoFi this year. If I can find the fire, it’s a possibility.”
A Super Bowl in the home stadium would certainly add some juice to the whole thing.
It just comes down to Donald being able to "find the fire."
For some reason, that doesn't seem like it should be too hard. Donald did retire near the peak of his talents, though, so maybe he did really turn the switch off.
If the fire comes back, so will Donald.
