Aaron Carter’s mother has set out to carve his name into Hollywood history, calling on fans everywhere to help celebrate his legacy.
Jane Carter Schneck launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $85,000 for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, telling TMZ she plans to apply before the May 15 deadline.
The process requires a formal application, a sponsorship fee, and approval from the Walk of Fame selection committee.
Schneck said her late son “would’ve loved” the idea. She remembered how they used to walk along the boulevard together during trips to Los Angeles.
She recalled one moment in particular to TMZ. When Carter was about 12, she told him, “You’re going to be there someday.” According to Schneck, he didn’t hesitate: “Yeah.”
Carter’s siblings, including Nick and Angel Carter, are fully behind the effort, and Schneck believes fans will be the driving force behind bringing this tribute to life.
The fundraiser says the money will go toward “the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star,” adding: “We are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy… Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer.”
Carter was found dead in a bathtub at his Lancaster, California, home on Nov. 5, 2022. He was 34. The cause of death was not immediately publicized, but the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner later ruled that Carter’s death was accidental drowning after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam.
He was later cremated, and his ashes were placed in the care of his twin sister, Angel.
The late star is survived by his young son, Prince Lyric Carter, born in November 2021, whom he shared with his former fiancée, Melanie Martin.
His brother Nick Carter is a member of the Backstreet Boys—one of the biggest pop groups of all time.
