A year after Netflix aired its first-ever celebrity roast, “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady”— the seven-time Super Bowl champ is still reckoning with the fallout. And while the May 2024 event delivered laughs and headline-making punchlines, it’s clear not everyone in Brady’s inner circle walked away unscathed.
On Wednesday's episode of "Impaulsive," Brady, 47, told hosts Logan Paul and Mike Majlak that while he personally enjoyed the roast, it came at a cost he didn’t fully anticipate.
“It’s tough on my kids, for sure,” Brady admitted. “I’ll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day… I felt like… a stake through the heart.”
Brady shares 17-year-old Jack with ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan, and two younger children, Vivian, 12, and Benjamin, 14, with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.
During the roast many jokes took aim at Brady’s divorce — and his ex-girlfriend, prompting backlash and awkward conversations at home.
“They’re protective of their mom, of their dad… They were like, ‘Why did you do that?’” he said.
Following the broadcast on May 5, 2024, a source told People magazine, Bündchen was"deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family.”
Though Brady said the performances were “incredible” and likened the experience to being in a locker room, he now questions the decision to take part in it from a parental perspective.
“There’s no perfect manual,” he said. “As a parent, you f*** up, and you don’t realize until after ... you live and you learn.”
