John Cena made history on the latest episode of RAW by defeating Dominik Mysterio to capture the Intercontinental Title for the first time in his career. He is now set to hang up his wrestling boots in December as a Grand Slam Champion.

Cena is currently at the tail end of his Farewell Tour. He is set to make his last appearance on the red brand next week. Also, he is scheduled to appear at Survivor Series: WarGames before his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event XLII on December 13.

Currently, The Franchise Player has no opponent for the upcoming premium live event, and the creative team might consider booking one for him soon. In an unexpected twist, Roman Reigns could make a surprising return on the flagship show and enter a program with the reigning Intercontinental Champion.

Secret reason behind John Cena's massive win - Watch Here!

The OTC has been on hiatus since being defeated by Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight at Crown Jewel: Perth after interference from Bron Breakker and The Usos. However, since Reigns has been advertised for the annual spectacle, his return could also be on the horizon.

The 40-year-old has a storied history with John Cena in the Stamford-based promotion, and might now consider running it back with The Franchise Player one more time. He could spark a feud with Cena on the red brand, and possibly set up the stage for a blockbuster singles match at Survivor Series. The bout could even be for the Intercontinental Championship.

Considering that many believe The Franchise Player's Farewell Tour hasn't lived up to the hype so far due to Triple H's questionable bookings, having Roman Reigns face the GOAT could help reignite fans' excitement and interest in the retirement storyline.

While this angle is far-fetched, it's not impossible. Fans will have to wait and see what surprises Triple H has in store for them on the upcoming episode of RAW.

WWE Superstar isn't happy with John Cena winning the Intercontinental Championship

The latest episode of RAW saw John Cena finally clinch the one title that had eluded him in his legendary career, the Intercontinental Championship. However, it appears that a WWE star isn't happy with that.

On X/Twitter, Xavier Woods shared a video that saw him sitting backstage alongside Kofi Kingston as they watched Cena's big win on a monitor. The star then questioned why the GOAT was granted a title shot, while The New Day was not given the chance to compete for the tag titles.

"Why does he get a shot? We can't get a shot at tag titles, and he gets a shot at IC whenever he wants? Cause he's leaving, and last time is now?And the pyro? Who is he, Penta? All the pyro now?" Woods said.

That said, it will be interesting to see what plans the creative team has in store for John Cena as the Intercontinental Champion.
