While they are undoubtedly one of pro-wrestling's most successful couples, AEW's Tay Melo surprisingly threatened her husband Sammy Guevara with a divorce in a comedic social media clip recently. The two stars appeared to be in disagreement over whether they should be getting a pet dog or not.
Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo have been together since early 2022. The duo were engaged in June that same year, and tied the knot later in August. During The Spanish God's entrance for his AEW World Championship four-way at Double or Nothing 2023, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child together. Their daughter, Luna, was born that year on November 28.
Guevara and Melo regularly share glimpses into their personal life for their followers on social media. Recently on X/Twitter, they filmed a witty sketch in which Tay made the case that she and Sammy should adopt a dog for their family, making several arguments via presentation slides. Melo pointed out the obvious perks of having a canine companion- for herself and for Luna- and even jokingly threatened her spouse with a divorce in case he continued to disagree.
"Mental health benefits. It reduces stress for me. Increases happiness—more than we already have. Listens without interrupting... “Dogs are expensive. Vet bills are expensive. Toys and treats are surprisingly expensive. But you know what’s even more expensive? A divorce lawyer! (...) “The dog is the budget-friendly option. Happy wife, happy life. We are getting the dog. No further discussion.”Spoiler on Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes - Check Here!
It remains to be seen whether Guevara and Melo will be adding a new member to their family in the form of a pet anytime soon.
AEW star Sammy Guevara's huge pro-wrestling milestone
While he is not featured on AEW television as often as he used to be in the early years of the promotion, Sammy Guevara is still seen competing not only on All Elite Wrestling programming, but also at Ring of Honor as of late, where he currently holds the ROH World Tag Team Championships alongside his LFI stable-mate, The Beast Mortos.
The former Inner Circle and Jericho Appreciation Society member began his pro-wrestling journey back in 2010 at Booker T's training school, Reality of Wrestling. Earlier this month, Guevara took to X/Twitter to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his career inside the squared circle, posting photographs of several iconic moments from his AEW run till this point.
"Year 15. Most people will call your dreams unrealistic but they’re not meant to see what only you can feel. Be brave and follow what’s calling for you.❤️," Guevara wrote in the caption of the post.Year 15.Most people will call your dreams unrealistic but they’re not meant to see what only you can feel.Be brave and follow what’s calling for you.❤️
It remains to be seen when the former TNT Champion will wrestle in AEW next, his last match in the promotion having taken place on the November 15 episode of Collision.
