The Philadelphia 76ers have had quite the rocky last few seasons, having to deal with multiple long-term injuries to former MVP and franchise cornerstone Joel Embiid, to lackluster playoff performances throughout. But the Sixers are seemingly going for it after they had the offseason of their dreams, capturing the signature of LeBron James in free agency, as well as trading for Jaylen Brown earlier on, all in the span of a few weeks of each other.
These moves, as well as a plethora of free agency signings that have helped create a more well-rounded roster for Philadelphia, have transformed them into nothing short of title contenders.
This highly rated offseason was the subject of, or the answer to, multiple questions in the NBA's annual GM survey.
The Sixers' offseason as seen by the survey
When it came to what team had the best offseason, the survey read that 73 percent of GMs thought the Philadelphia 76ers had the best offseason, with the Miami Heat, who landed most notably Giannis Antetokounmpo, coming in second place with 10 percent of the votes.
The aforementioned Antetokounmpo signing was the highlighted acquisition that could make the biggest impact, with 53 percent of the votes, while the Sixers trading for Brown is in at second with 20 percent, and the LeBron signing coming in at 13 percent, tied for third place.
Lastly, in terms of Philadelphia's offseason summary, some of their free agency deals were mentioned in the "most underrated player acquisition" category, as Anfernee Simons and Dean Wade received an unspecified number of votes.
Simons signed with the Sixers on a two-year deal worth $12.2 million, while Wade was Philadelphia's first offseason move, reuniting with Mike Gansey on a four-year deal worth $38.7 million.
Granted, despite all of the high praise for their offseason work, Philadelphia remains the most unpredictable team according to the survey, with 27% of GMs not being able to predict how they'll perform this season.
But the NBA world will get a better look at how the Sixers will perform in the coming days, as the regular season kicks off on Oct. 20 with a match against the reigning champions, the New York Knicks.
