76ers' Jaylen Brown fires shot at MLB, NBA, NFL over low IQ remarks after Celtics blockbuster trade

The Boston Celtics moved on from Jaylen Brown on Wednesday, shipping him to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George and draft capital. It felt like only a matter of time before Brown was dealt, as the relationship between him and the organization had reportedly deteriorated over the years.

Brown waited a day before addressing the situation, but on Thursday night he opened up about how he felt things were handled. He suggested there was a lack of respect in the process.

“I wasn’t thrilled with how the conversation was facilitated. I did feel like it was a lack of respect. At one point it was fine, and then out of nowhere it just went left. I definitely think there’s more to it. There definitely is more to it. I know Brad is getting a lot of criticism, but I just wish more of it could have been explained. I just wish they had the respect to tell me exactly what it was, and I would have understood and respected that,” Brown said.

It also became apparent that Brown has been viewed by some around the league as overly confident in his intelligence, which some believe contributed to the rift.

“I had two NBA sources … two people in the league, one an executive, one a scout, say that Jaylen Brown has — it’s a disease. He suddenly thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room he’s in … You make a lot of money, suddenly you’re absolutely sure, you don’t wanna listen to your bosses, you don’t wanna listen to consultants, you don’t wanna listen to teammates,” Colin Cowherd said.

On Thursday, Brown responded to those claims that he believes he is the smartest person in sports. He appeared to take a shot at multiple professional leagues in his response.

“No offense to everybody in sports, but the bar is fu**ing low,” Brown said on his stream.

Brown did attend college in California, a prestigious academic institution. It appears the Celtics may have interpreted his confidence as arrogance they were unwilling to tolerate.

However, Brown did not hold back, making it clear he stands by his mindset. Even after the trade, he remains outspoken and unafraid to express how he sees things.
